2009 Global Day Brings Awareness to Insect-Borne Diseases

Mosquito Squad®, a leader in insect control, salutes Roll Back Malaria’s effort to bring insect-borne diseases to public consciousness. Saturday, April 25th, marks the second annual World Malaria Day. The Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Partnership asks the global community to come together for one day to recognize and reflect upon the importance of controlling Malaria. It strives to increase awareness of the deadly disease and the simple ways the global population can help to prevent it. To help Roll Back Malaria’s efforts, you can donate funds to go towards mosquito nets and medications to prevent and treat Malaria. For more information, visit their website at http://rbm.who.int. Malaria, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, is preventable and treatable, yet it takes the lives of nearly 3 million people and effects 500 million people worldwide each year. It, unfortunately, is not the only disease spread by insects. Mosquitoes, ticks, and other insects spread Malaria, West Nile, Lyme disease, and other illnesses. Mosquito Squad® offers a proven, effective way to control mosquitoes and other insects within the perimeter of your property. Part of Outdoor Living Brands’ franchise company based in Richmond, VA, Mosquito Squad® keeps families, residences, and special events insect-free by applying a barrier spray around a property, killing the pests within it. For more information, visit www.MosquitoSquad.com or phone the location near you.
